Just sitting here in my Academic Study Hall (Obviously not doing school work) wondering if the Ram Air Hoods actually effect performance at all combined with a CAI that is not dropped down into the fender. Although I believe it is a more efficient for of CAI does it really do much?

Ram air intake facing the windshield usually will help. If it faces forward, it might hurt performance, depending on how the hood and front of the car are shaped. Facing forward needs to be at least six inches above the hood. forward facing usually results in less air pressure, due to low pressure effect of the air over the hood.

Ram air in the grill or below the front of the hood is usually best. Below 100 MPH none of it matters a lot If you are artificially aspirated you should reduce restrictions, 90s, bends as much as possible on the inlet to whatever booster that you have. Most will add boost with way too small of an air cleaner. You should go as large a surface area as possible use a paper filter and change it often. After market screens and other with oil are a joke and responsible for more engine failures than about anything else.
